Sensation of the Month Review: June’s Strawberry Lemonade Italian Ice

Sensations sound, well, sensational, but what are they really like? Here’s one perspective that might help make your decision a little easier.

June’s sensation of the month is Strawberry Lemonade Italian Ice: Strawberry and Lemon flavor with Citric Acid and real Strawberry Bits mixed in.

Oh my gosh, I never knew Italian ice could be so smooth. It’s still blowing my mind. It makes sense though, given how smooth and creamy nitrogen freezing makes the ice cream, it’s just even more apparent with Italian ice. It’s stunning, in a good way. I think if I could, I would eat this all summer long even without any sugar or flavors, just for that smooth ice texture to beat the heat. Wow. It’s addicting.

It really feels like the perfect beat the heat treat. It really takes you away to those perfect summer days, running through the sprinklers, lemonade stands, neighborhood block parties, barbecues, and fireworks.

The flavors mix very well. Who doesn’t like a classic strawberry lemonade? It reminds me of a fancy restaurant; but in Italian ice form, it has an undeniably summery feel. It’s super strongly flavored. The sweetness, the tartness, both are bold and well-balanced with each other. The strawberry bits really make it feel substantial and satisfying. I don’t know that I’ve ever gone to an ice cream shop to order Italian ice, but this is such a stunning combination for summer, maybe now I want to. You don’t always want something heavy in the summer, and the creaminess in ice cream can feel that way, but there’s no heaviness in Italian ice. Plus, it leaves your mouth feeling satiated.

This feels so light, so summery, so refreshing, and is such a classic flavor. If you’re wondering about whether to try Italian ice or not, take the plunge. I don’t think anyone could be disappointed with the texture, and remember that Sub Zero is all about customization. You’re not limited to these flavors, so let your mind rest easy. I’m sure you can find a flavor that suits you.

I wonder what it would be like in Watermelon, that other classic summer flavor.

Bottom line: Light, summery feeling Italian ice in a classic bold-but-well-balanced sweet and tart flavor combination.
